#1. HOW TO BEGIN?

 #1. HOW TO BEGIN?

With what I know.

Washington Square Park is 9.75 acres of trees, flowers, winding paths, two statues, a fountain, three playgrounds, two dog runs, a secret creek, two burial grounds, and probably the oldest tree in New York.

Today I am scanning the trees when an older man appears. He steps from the path over a low fence and onto the grass. He looks around intently and carefully chooses a big tree with a broad trunk. He moves close, places his hands on the trunk and holds them flat for two minutes. Head bowed.

Is he listening to the heartwood? Praying to Gaia? He sidles away... smiling.

Should I try it? This seems like an auspicious beginning!
