! feel like an anthropologist observing a rare ritual. 

Hundreds and hundreds have come from every borough and from beyond. All young. All desperate to get their Covid Ya-Yas out in a snowball free-for-all. Few masks. Lots of pent-up pandemic energy and frustration needing an outlet. They start by throwing at friends. Soon anyone is fair game. Though the best target becomes the mosh pit of people standing packed in the dry Fountain pool. 

Lucky the snow wasn’t wet and good packing. Could shoot your eye out!
