#59 STEP INTO A CIRCLE
A tall black man, not old, not crazy, stands in the center of a chalk drawn circle and screams at the top of his lungs. Another day in Washington Square Park.
The man was just following instructions in the circle labeled Screaming Spot.If you don’t like screaming, pick another: Kissing Spot. Hugging Spot. Poetry Spot.
Felix Morelo has drawn perfect white circles (he must have a giant protractor – remember that from geometry?). Some six feet in diameter, some ten feet. If you don’t like those circles, he also did this one: Good Luck Spot. More people stop there.
Of course, he signs each circle. Conceptual art, I guess.
